Acting Techniques
Students will study key principles of acting using a range of techniques from classical to modern. Students will explore these principles both theoretically and practically and use the skills and techniques to develop characterisation and rehearse material for performance.
Acting for Camera
Acting for the camera is an essential skill for students who wish to work in the film and television industry. Students will have the chance to hone the particular skills required for acting to camera. They will develop their voice and physical expression for this specific medium, using techniques that are markedly different from those used for acting on stage.
Body Movement
Students will be introduced to the main principles of movement. Movement is an essential element in all areas of performing and provides a solid foundation on which to build performance skills. It is about the skills required to use the body as an expressive instrument.
Stage Combat
Students will be given training in the basic techniques of combat for stage, film and television acquiring the skills to hit, kick and defend a blow with confidence, control and safety.



Dance
Performers must be versatile, adaptable and highly skilled. This module will allow students to explore a range of the many forms that dance can take throughout the world and develop the necessary techniques for working in a variety of performance configurations. This module will improve confidence, develop interpretative skills and enhance communication between audience and performer.
Yoga and Meditation
The day at Actor Prepares will start with Yoga and Meditation. This module will not only help in increasing the flexibility of the body and developing breathing techniques but will also help in enhancing concentration and creating a focussed mind.
Developing Vocal Skills for Acting
Students will study the physiological principles of voice production. The competent actor is a healthy actor and knowledge of the physical limitations of the voice is essential so that actors can use their voices without damaging them and development can occur safely. Students will acquire strength and freedom for the voice through a series of exercises designed to give confidence and vocal authority.
Film Appreciation
Actor Prepares students will study films extensively, analyse cinema in detail, capture the exclusive aesthetics of film-makers world over and, above all, fall in love with Cinema.
Business and Enterprise
Students will be given an insight into the world of business and enterprise and how it relates to the entertainment industry.
